It is amazing how you can put so much of yourself into something you love, in the hope that at the end of it you come away with something you are proud of.

I am a perfectionist that is always learning, so I kid you not when I say creating music for me is a colourful process that I somehow survive each time & for the most part, with my sanity intact.

I started working on this album a fair way back now, 12months plus.
Some of the songs had been in my head for a while, with others freshly written for this project.

The first release off the album, titled ‘Million’ was a collaboration between myself and William Henderson of Woodcut Studios in Auckland. I learnt so much in the process of creating this song, a different approach to songwriting and the power of working with another.

If you have followed my music for a while, you’ll know that the style and overall sound of ‘Million’ was a definite change of pace for me compared to my EP ‘Only Human’ released in 2014.
I tend to seek out music that has soul, with this record my main focus was to write songs that meant something to me, that were true to who I am as an artist and pushed me creatively.
I feel that the song ‘Ships’ (number #4 on the album) has it’s share of soul and is something new from me.
The lyrics for ‘Ships’ and music came together really nicely to create a little bit of emotional magic.

I am proud of what we achieved with L O S T / F O U N D and cannot wait to get back in the studio and work on some of the song monsters buying and selling houses in my head, that wake me at 4:00am in the morning and compel me to reach for my pen and paper at my bedside table.

DEEBS DAY FESTIVAL 2016 CONTINUED

DEEBS DAY FESTIVAL 2016 has been an experience that I won’t soon forget.

July 9th 2016, I had a blast performing some of my latest tracks (including my most recent release MILLION) to an energetic and welcoming audience that made the night what it was. Glitter everywhere.

My first festival and I am hooked, happy people wearing the most amazing outfits and getting along. Sandy-beaches with hammocks, talking music, bars, chilling-tents, two different areas for various types of music and a random inflatable banana……the list of awesomeness goes on.

I will definitely be back! Thank you Deebs for having me – you did not disappoint.

DEEBS DAY FESTIVAL LONDON 2016

Two days of open spaces, peoples faces, music, food & drinks – yes please!
(I left rain off the list for a reason weather gods…gumboots don’t travel light)

DEEBS DAY FESTIVAL 2016 – SATURDAY 9TH JULY

Really excited to be travelling from New Zealand to London to perform at
Deebs Day Festival 2016!
From what I have seen of recent years, Deebs Day promises a quality time and is attracting more people each year.

I will be performing my recently released single ‘M I L L I O N‘ alongside soon to be released material that will feature on my upcoming collection
of work ‘L O S T / F O U N D’.

This will be my first time performing at a Festival (as opposed to worshipping whichever musical favourite I had manoeuvred my way to the front of the crowd to see), and I am really looking forward to the experience.

I plan on live streaming the event through Periscope, tune in to see what we are seeing at the Festival in real time – search @AbbieMusic and you should be able to do just that.

My last thought on this post that is fighting to be shared, in two words – FESTIVAL FASHION!!
I cannot wait to dust of some of my more original looking pieces of clothing and wear them all at once 100 different ways.

THEM FEELS

For me, there is nothing quite like playing music to a live audience.

I treasure the more intimate performances, being able to talk directly with guests and share a glass of something in-between sets.

I performed my most recent release ‘MILLION’ along with a collection of work due for release very soon, at The Portland Public House the Wednesday gone.

For those of you that haven’t come across this bar shaped gold, The Portland is found in Kingsland, Auckland and is open every night until late boasting some pretty epic mood lighting and a relaxed vibe.

A great venue with a great audience that I look forward to spending an evening or two with again in August, hope to see you there.
